"Bowel treatment at Barnsley General"

About: Barnsley Hospital / Colorectal surgery

(as the patient),

I recieved bowel treatment and I stayed in Ward 31 of Barnsley General Hospital. During my stay I was treated with dignity and respect. However, I felt that the standard of cleanliness was poor.

My name is Lucy Hainsworth, and I am the Forum Support Officer for Barnsley Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) in Health Forums.

The Forums are a group of volunteers set-up by the government to independently monitor the NHS and involves public opinion in decisions which are made by the NHS on a local level, these include issues such as Hospital Disabled Toilet facilities (which are now undergoing refurbishment at Barnsley Hospital) etc.

We also try to monitor any areas of cleanliness which are brought up by patients, and make them aware that there are areas of concern.

I notice that you have commented on the cleanliness at Barnsley Hospital, and wondered if you would be willing to expand on this (anonymously) to help us in this project.

If you would like to be involved, please e-mail me your story and opinions to :

ForumSupport.Inhouse53@cppih.org

Thank you

Lucy
