My husband was admitted to the A and E last night after we called 111. Throughout the night, the care from the Drs and nurses was exemplary, caring and professional. However, the ward seemed extremely short staffed on support staff, like care assistants. Perhaps it was night time and this was the cause but it seemed to be felt by several patients. We were put into a room with chairs, no bed, for several hours due to over crowdedness, and this was not so bad but the room was at least 5 degrees colder than the ward itself. We were not expecting a five star hotel, but at the same time, patients should be able to expect some comfort when they are not well. A dr offered us blankets and did find us a room eventually, but the blanket was really no more than a sheet.
