Following a spontaneous pneumothorax which would not resolve, I was referred to Broadgreen for VATS surgery & stayed on Cedar Ward. The care I received was outstanding and really helped make a very unpleasant surgery bearable. The consultants explained my options clearly, including risks & answered all my concerns & questions so I knew what to expect. This nursing staff ensured I was kept comfortable & as pain free as possible post op & all the staff, including catering & cleaning were lovely, all made time to talk and all had a smile. Makes a big difference. I was in my own room which was i much preferred to being on a ward & meant I slept well and could have TV or music on without disturbing other patients. Also gives privacy for visiting. I was concerned at home once discharged as was not recovering as well as expected and used the support line on a couple of occasions for advice. Unfortunately, I did require a second surgery 4 weeks later and the team were so thorough to ensure this surgery was successful before I was discharged. I felt I was in safe hands and totally trusted the team. So a big thank you, you guys do an amazing job!
