Wrightington hospital was a big part of my life last year and no doubt will be for the rest of my life. They have been fantastic with me from day 1. My consultant is truly amazing. He is a lovely gentleman and treats me with up most respect. After being passed from one hospital to another, the first appointment I had with him he knew instantly what the problem was and got me booked in for surgery 6 weeks later. Eight months and three operations later I'm now 7 weeks into my recovery. For my last operation I opted to have a spinal instead of being anaesthetised. The consultant, his theatre team and I had a good laugh whilst being prepared for surgery which made me feel comfortable and reassured during a stressful time. Ward D staff have been incredible and really caring on all of my admissions. They give exceptional patient care from the moment you arrive to when you leave. Three weeks after my surgery I thought I had an infection in my wound, after contacting the consultant's secretary on a Friday morning, they got straight onto the ward by 11:30am and my consultant came to see me. Luckily everything was fine but my consultant booked me an appointment for a few days later to see him just to recheck the wound again after stopping my medication. I saw my consultant and one of his registrars last week for my 6 week post-op appointment. They were both very happy with my progress and results, which was the best news I had had in a long time. The consultant and myself then had a detailed discussion regarding my next steps to recovery. Again he was charming, respectful and had a great sense of humour. I could not ask for a better consultant and orthopaedic team. Please note that I have sent a letter to Patient Relations at Wrightington and a copy to the PALS Department at Wigan with a detailed report expressing my praise and gratitude to the staff mentioned above.
"Absolutely Wonderful!"
