"Staff are extremely caring"

About: Westmorland General Hospital / Langdale Unit

(as the patient),

The staff on the Langdale Unit at Westmorland General Hospital were extremely good and caring. But they were let down by one potentially serious slip. For example, I had to be helped in the shower but somebody had looped the pull cord emergency around the shower curtain rail and I had difficulty in contacting the nursing staff. In an emergency this could have been serious. Needless to say I let the nursing staff know my opinion on this incident.

Thank you for your posting. I am very grateful to you for taking the time to feed back your experience.

I was particularly pleased to read your positive comments about the staff on the Langdale Unit and I will take great pleasure in feeding back your comments to the team.

I take on board your comment about the 'pull cord' and I'm grateful to you for highlighting this very important issue - I was also very pleased to read that you had also highlighted this to staff at the time - thank you!

I will take this opportunity to review procedures in relation to use of pull cords and to ensure that all staff ensure cords are within reach...at all times.

Thank you again for the feedback.

Best wishes,

Graeme
