"My emergency admission and subsequent stay at East Surrey"

About: East Surrey Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I was admitted as an emergency with a back injury in excruciating pain following a fall at home.

The hospital failed to complete an MRI scan which show a fractured back for a full 5 days. They failed to control my pain successfully. The excuse from this accident and trauma unit was that MRI and the pain management team are not available at weekends.

During my 2 week stay at East Surrey, I was not seen by anyone from the Orthopaedic or Fracture teams and received no satisfactory pain relief. Instead I endured 2 weeks screaming in agony day and night until I was transferred from the hospital elsewhere. Myself and my family have been left utterly devastated by the events that took place.
