I have been attending the QE outpatients department with my mother for about eight years since she was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. At each appointment the consultants have treated my mother with respect and dignity and have always addressed her personal needs and concerns regarding her condition. Before her appointment my mother is asked to complete a form about a typical day including medication and activities. The form also asks what concerns or needs are wished to be addressed at this review. This form is handed in on arrival at the clinic, the consultant then reads this before seeing my mother. Because of this form we find we get so much more out of each consultation. We also are grateful to the Parkinson's disease nurses who are understanding and efficient and provide a most caring service. I have much experience of hospitals having been a nurse for over 30 years and I am so pleased that my mother receives what I feel is exceptional support in managing her Parkinson's disease at the QE outpatient department.
