"Unable to have test depsite being told I would be able to"

About: University Hospital Ayr / Urology

(as the patient),

I’ve visited the urology department three times since September for urodynamic testing.

Three weeks ago I attended to have a scan for a bladder examination, but they couldn’t do it at the time.

I phoned the urology department to see if I could have the urodynamic tests as I couldn’t have the scan. The lady told me I could come on the in late November and that they would still be able to perform the tests.

I attended the hospital, but once I was there the nurse came up to me and I guessed what she was going to say – she confirmed that I wasn’t going to be having the test on that day, and that I shouldn’t be there.

I explained what the nurse said on the phone.

I must add that every other time I’ve have been at the hospital, I’ve had a good experience and have no other complaints. It’s just this one incident.

Dear Fellow4,

How annoying when you attend hospital to be told you can’t have the test you are there for, you must feel you have had a bit of a run around and I am truly sorry about that. Very importantly, have you now had this test done or do you still need to have your test? If you are still waiting, please contact me and we will see what we can do.

I am glad you have been happy with all the rest of your care and this is the one time we have blotted our copy book. I will pass this to the team and ask if the communication around this test is raised to help staff understand the process. I will get back too you if the team establish any reason why this may have happened but it is more difficult wiht out your details.
