"Excellent Multi Disciplinary care however...."

My father is an inpatient in ward 2A and as of the 2nd November will have been in for 3 weeks. The clinical care has been excellent however

Costs of Hospedia for the 3 weeks to date £190 (£50 for 14 days plus £30 every 5 days for football). I anticipate my father will be in for some time yet and shudder to think what it will have cost us by the time he is discharged. My father is lucky we can help him with these costs and the complexities of navigating the system to put the package in place.

I suspect many people will not be as fortunate. Other inpatients in Highland do not face these costs or have to make decisions to do without which does not seem equitable. How do these costs improve care and outcomes?

Recovery is dependant on more that good clinical care. People need to be well mentally too. Lack of stimulation can result in boredom, withdrawl and depression. I fail to see how these costs contribute to getting the experience of care and outcomes for the individual.

I did contact hospedia who advised when I call to ask for special deals but on the 3 occasions I have updated the package there were no deals available.
