It has taken me nearly three months to get the courage to relive the horror of the treatment and service I received when I gave birth to my daughter three months ago. I was left so traumatised (not by the birth but the disrespect and indignity of the midwives that were working that weekend). I can't even bring myself to write to the hospital to re-live the catalogue of appalling errors and patronising midwives that myself and my husband had to contend with on the weekend of 3rd August 2014. Tired, undertrained and poor bedside manner was probably just the beginning and yet I was so desperate to please them and do as they say. I will never recommend this hospital for maternity or post natal care. Shift rotas and midwives moods severely affected my birth along with completely inefficient anestists stuff who only realised my epidural wasn't working after 3 hours. Left in pain, on a induction for no reason as my notes were muddled up, plus the humilating and invasive internal examinations without my permission added to the misery. Go here for C section and get the hell out. AS the post natal care is appalling also. I was discharged without my knowledge and barked at my a rude and brash midwife whilst I sat in a bed of my own urine and blood which I had to clear up myself 8 hours after my child was born - later to discover that damage had been done to my bladder and that I should not have been discharged. Not only this, drugs that were not for me had ben left in my room and with mild panic a midwife came in and in a panic realising asked if I had taken anything followed by that these drugs were not meant for me. From muddled notes, to midwives that didn't even know or offer to do the simplist things like dim the lights. I was induced unnecessarily and internal examined and swept without my permission. After 16 hours of one unauthorised sweep by a junior midwife, two failed epidurals (which may I add they had no leaflets in English on so my husband didn't know what to expect) confused notes (realising that my waters had not broken three days before as they all kept insisting even though I repeatedly told them they had only broken that morning), hideous and painful induction, left itching for 3 hours due to an allergic reaction - followed by realising the baby was back to back and then providing me with the long awaited C section that I screamed for, my daughter was born in spite of their service and certainly not because. There was one midwife who was a temp who came in at the end an thankfully saw sense and had a respectful and calming bedside manner. Thank god for this woman. I have never been so grateful for someone with experience and heart to take over. On the post natal ward, I was left to fend for myself with no information about recovery. I will never step foot back in this hospital. I do not recommend.
