"My traumatic birth experience"

About: Medway Maritime Hospital / Maternity

(as the patient),

In labour I rang the hospital several times and got told I didn't know what I was on about. Ringing for the 4th time, my contractions were 2 mins apart and strong. I have to tell l them I am coming in and got told not to bother brining my bags.

I brought my bags got a huge lecture on what labour is and got admitted at 5 cm.

I was forced on the monitor and every request I had was completely ignored - if I could have a drink, have a wee, pain relief, a cover because I was cold.

I was forced on my side with my bum exposed. I got told I couldn't get up or move. I was made to have gas and air, even after throwing up lots, and was told off for saying no.

The epidural which I got, I was made to feel bad for getting. The dr came in and shoved their hand in me, I have no clue why, but was there for most of the pushing stage. I couldn't feel my contractions, but the midwife refused to tell me when they were so I guessed. I got told I was not doing it properly, so would need help. I had a panic attack as the dr left the door open watching me push. Midwives had their backs to me as my daughter was born. My daughter would have fallen on the floor if the midwife hadn't been leaning on the table (back to me) and my daughter landed next to her arm.

I was made to feel stupid, and didn't give consent to any procedures done to me. In fact I refused some. I gave birth with uncaring midwives who ignored me my whole labour with the labour room door open.

However, the after care was really good, except the the night shift midwife who scared me into having a wee.

I plan to write a formal complaint about my care.
