"Occupational therapy and physiotherapy"

About: East Surrey Hospital

(as a parent/guardian),

My son aged 17 had surgery as a baby. he was now losing the movement in his thumb due to scar tissue. He was seen by a specialist hand surgeon who recommended physiotherapy in place of surgery. I was sceptical that this would work. He was seen by a specialist physiotherapist who gave him exercises and a occupational therapist who made a splint for him to wear at night. He now has the full range of movement in his thumb and has avoided surgery.

Dear Motherhubbard

Really pleased the physiotherapist and occupational therapist were able to help and your son has full range of movement in his thumb again. I will make sure your comments are passed on to the staff who looked after him.

kind regards

Tasha
