I phoned my GP to ask to see my doctor. I was told: "We don't operate like that anymore, we have a triage team that assess you and see if you need to see the GP."
The receptionist then asked "what is your problem" so I had to give my personal details to a receptionist who would then pass it on to a triage team who then decided whether I needed to see a GP!
It was quite personal and I felt very embarrassed telling the receptionist my problem, and she had took my name etc so she knew who I was.
What would happen if a very frightened teenage girl was afraid she was pregnant, or been abused, would they tell the receptionist their problem? Of course not. We need to employ more GPs and bring back the patient doctor relationship.
