What I liked
I was a patient in the day surgery unit in January this year to have my gall bladder removed. At every stage of my care I was consulted, felt involved and despite being nervous the staff made every effort to make me feel at ease about my treatement. I had the opportunity to speak to each member of staff involved in my care and my pain relief and anaesthesia was tailored to my needs to prevent post op nausea. I had a named nurse who spent time with me while waiting for the operation who despite being new was incredibly professional and reassuring. My post operative care before discharge was also excellent and I was constantly checked to see if I was okay. At every stage I was treated with dignity and respect. I have had surgery many years ago and my experience was very poor and I had no expectations that standards would have improved...so my comments are not just gratitude. If my care had been private if could not have been better. Highly recommended to any who find themselves in the unfortunatley position of having to have surgery.
What could be improved
There was nothing about my care that could have been improved...it was exceptional
Anything else?
From my perspecive I felt that the previous cost of caring for patients overnight pre and post surgery has been re-directed into vast improvements in customer service and patient care. Having had treatment many years ago and found this area very lacking I am delighted to say that this has improved beyond any expectation. I certainly didnt feel concerned about the quick discharge and had no problems post surgery.
