I had great care from all members of staff at Sunderland Royal Hospital.
I had a tonsillectomy and was put at ease. I was offered food and fluid as soon as i was allowed to eat and drink. I was given pain killers when i needed them. I had access to a TV which was free.
I should have had this operation through BUPA. My partner has BUPA cover through his work. I thought it would help take the pressure off the NHS. I had to fill out forms which i had to get my GP to sign (which cost me).
I got a date for my operation which i kept having to change as BUPA would not give their approval they kept telling me that it was still being dealt with. I spent a lot of time on the telephone and the stress of it made me ill.
I am glad that the NHS is around. Before my dealing with BUPA i thought it would be wise to go private. Not now. If the health tourist could be stopped the NHS would be a lot better. Too many people use and abuse the system.
"Good care - glad the NHS is around"
