"Appalling parking problems "

About: Southmead Hospital / General surgery

(as a relative),

Took my wife to Southmead Hospital last Monday for outpatients appointment.

After dropping her at main entrance it took another hour and a half to find a parking place, the site was in utter traffic chaos. I feel whoever planned to open this hospital before adequate parking was provided should be sacked!

The hospital needs to get adequate parking for public and staff.

Dear Paul - I am sorry that you found parking so difficult. The parking has reached a pinch-point because the main visitors’ car park is still to be constructed on the site of the old hospital buildings. This has meant that at peak times it can be very busy and I regret you experienced a problem. However, a new multi-story car park is to be built next to the new hospital that will also relieve congestion in front of the main entrance, as there will be less need for drop-off and pick-up traffic.

Regrettably funding did not allow both sites (Frenchay and Southmead) to remain operational during this period.

Kind regards -
