"Maternity Blunder 12 years ago"

(as the patient),

Basically, I had my first child in my local and what a nightmare the whole thing was from start to finish. I basically went in and they did the usual tests and I was allocated a midwife, who I think was the nastiest midwife ever. I had to have some bloods taken and it was clearly in my notes that I have a severe needle phobia. Two doctors came and held me to the bed tight, so I couldn't move, which left me shouting, as I was very scared. The midwife took my blood and put in a cannula drip. And all the way through it, she was saying shut up and are you doing it all for the attention.

Later on in my labour I had an epidural and signed the paper to agree to everything before they did it. The person doing my epidural put the epidural in the wrong part of my spine, and now 12 years on my back gives me terrible pain. So thanks for nothing.

I have since moved area and had 2 more children and the care I received from the local health trust has been fantastic.
