The secretary who helped me to organise a follow up appointment quickly was very helpful however for the second time I was not copied into correspondence to my GP about my own health and the discussion which took place during my outpatient appointment. When I spoke to the secretary several weeks after the appointment she said her team had never been asked to copy patients in to the GP letter which describes what was said and the decision made about their care during the outpatients appointment. All patients should be copied into letters about their care to their GP. I know of no other hospital where the patient is not automatically be copied in.Why on earth would you not do this? Please can this be discussed with the general managers and your practice changed as this is tantamount to withholding information and is a important communication which the patient has a right to receive.
