"Great nurses on the Darcy Ward"

About: Colchester General Hospital / Older people's healthcare

(as the patient),

I found the ward nurses to be great.

Unfortunately they have to handle all the problems, not the Doctors on their much greater salaries, the nurses rarely get to complete any task as they have six patients at any one time who all want to be dealt with.

Yes the reception area is often unstaffed. How do you expect a nurse dealing with six patients to deal with that at the same time?

Basically the nurses need backup, which they don't seem to get.

At the weekend the new idea is to bring in foreign staff but this can cause communication difficulty as sometimes they simply don't speak English. At the same time, there are lovely foreign staff working there who are beautifully friendly and attentive.
