As the family of an elderly patent that had a stroke we were informed she would be retuned to Good Hope hospital from Heartlands hospital on Saturday at 3. 30 pm we in consent contact with the ward they told us she could be moved at any moment as they don't have any contact with the Ambulance service even though they are within the same trust
The patient was without a visitor Saturday evening and all day Sunday as we didn't want to travel all the way to Heartlands as she could have been in Good Hope. After around eight calls on Sunday we were told they were waiting for the bed in Good Hope before transferring her we asked for a phone call to let us know when she left the ward any time night or day. The call came 03. 08 Monday morning.
When we went to see the doctors at good hope Monday morning as we had been informed she had a fall during the night and had injured to her head including a very bad BLACK eye ( she was known to be high risk to falls she had 4 other falls at Good Hope and was on low bed alarm pads an high watch at Good Hope).
We were also told the lady that was leaving Good Hope to Heartland which would be our relatives bed at Good hope LEFT AT 1pm on the Sunday so why wasn't she transferred at this time to us this was a disgrace as we were unable to visit her for over 47 Hours.
"36 hour wait for ambulance transfer one hospital to another "
