What I liked
It was to be my first ever surgery and i was very scared. I was shown into the wards day room and told to wait. A nurse came and went through my paper work, i was told to wait back in the day room. I was then seen 2 hrs later by a doctor, then told to wait again, after another hour i was seen by someone else and was told i would have my surgery that day. By 4pm i was getting a bit upset as it seemed i had been forgotten, then at 5.30pm (so 7 hrs after i had arrived and i was still sitting in the day room) i was told surgery had finished for the day and they were not going to see me... so i said i have been waiting 7 hrs he just shrugged his shoulders and said your not getting it done today i can sedate you to do it, but the whole reason for me being there was to have a general not a sedation. As you can imagine i was very upset at this treatment not only had i not eaten or drank all day nut i had taken time off work to be there. I was then told i could come back next week to see if they can fit me in then, but that means more time off work that i can not afford.....there was one point in the time i was waiting that one of the nurses came to ask me why i was therea and what was i having done...they should not be allowed to treast people this way....my faith in the service now is going to take alot to be repaired as i was petrified as it was but i need the surgery doing so now i really dont trust them!!!!
What could be improved
COMMUNICATION WOULD BE A GOOD START.
Anything else?
If you are going to leave people waiting for 7hrs at least have comfy chairs.. and tellys that work
