"A&E sent me home saying I sprained my knee: I tore my ACL and meniscus. "

About: Alnwick Infirmary / Trauma and orthopaedics Wansbeck Hospital

(as the patient),

Following an accident I heard my knee pop, as it twisted out of place.

The nurse who saw me was patronising, and said that the pop was nothing. I was sure I'd torn something but she said that I wouldn't be able to move my leg if it was torn.

My pain was minimal because the ACL had completely ripped from the tibia.

Due to this misdiagnosis I continued to walk around on it and attempt to carry on as normal. This May have lead to ripping my meniscus due to the the knee being so unstable.

I am still bitter about the way I was treated, and patronised. Just happy that after persevering and nagging I finally got an MRI which showed the extend of damage which lead to having surgery.
