Our father died recently having been treated for a non Hodgkin's lymphoma at Arrowe park for a number of years. From the first appointment with one doctor, when my father was carefully and kindly told that his cancer was very advanced, my father has been lucky enough to receive excellent treatment which prolonged his life for several years longer than we thought. Despite chemotherapy and different drug and blood treatments Dad was able to live a fairly active life and to visit family abroad and in the UK. The doctor always took the time to ask about Dads interests and family and he felt fully supported by the whole haematology team. At appointments I witnessed great kindness from reception and nursing staff too -remembering Dad cheerfully on arrival and he was always addressed by his name . At the end of Dads life the doctor's kindly but direct manner in telling him that he was going downhill enabled Dad to prepare himself and us his family. First class care - thankyou all in Haematology at Arrowe park!
