As a patient with COPD I am highly satisfied with the help provided by the community matron. She is a local and friendly source of information regarding features of the illness and the manner in which it should be controlled. Her regular visits provide reassurances that nothing untoward is taking place and in the event of anxiety taking arising she is easily contactable by phone and if necessary, she would be able to visit within minutes. On being informed that I may be able to have treatment which has only recently become available (Lung Volume Reduction by Bronchoscopy) she checked what this entailed and gave me a good explanation supported by copies of research reports for me to study later. She has provided standby medication for emergency use and in the 12 months she has been visiting I have not needed to visit the GP for this condition. I can say no more other than I think the service is excellent and should have been available at an earlier date.
"Excellent service"
