I collapsed and was blue lighted from Epsom Hospital A and E to The Royal Surrey Hospital ICU with a Doctor and Nurse and intravenous antibiotics.
I was in a coma for two weeks, and stayed in hospital for five weeks. I would like to say that the staff at Royal Surrey were outstanding. They not only managed to save my life, but were caring, thoughtful, chatty and kind and went the extra mile. I felt that many of the staff were natural healers.
ICU, HDU and Clandon ward were magnificent, and the food was excellent too (although I was tube fed for a long time, it still smelt lovely).
The gentle care I received really reaffirmed my belief in those who choose to care for the sick.
