After years of refusing to go to a GP not alone a sleep clinic, my wife persuaded me to go. I was diagnosed with moderate to severe sleep apnea. On the 18th of May at 1:30pm I arrived on the ward at Papworth to receive instruction on how to use a CPAP Machine and was encouraged to practice during the afternoon. In the evening with mask on I went to sleep and was monitored, and the CPAP flow rate was adjusted. The correct flow rate for my needs was established. I left in the morning with the equipment. Simple as that! I struggled with wearing a mask (personal mind block) and phoned up after a few days and was offered a different type of mask which was post arriving in two days. The new mask along with a helpful video from the mask manufacturers Web site has got me off to a great start. From GP referral through treatment I have enjoyed first class treatment. I would just like to reassure anyone that is apprehensive as I was, please go forward with confidence. What a fantastic service. I now sleep right through the night, wake up refreshed without even a hint of a headache.... Believe me I did not want to wear anything on my face. I asked my wife to go with me to the GP's if she thought my breathing was that much of a concern at night, not to mention my snoring. She is very happy with a quiet nights now. I can for the first time in years sleep on my back without getting a poke in the ribs! I feel alert during the day as well. Very Satisfied Brad Dooley Bedford
