I am writing in hindsight regarding my son being admitted into the A&E department with a suspected rupture/blockage after a total colectomy. He was brought in by ambulance - paramedics( brilliant )and I can't fault the amazing A&E nurse very attentive, got things done, very empathetic, A&E doctor was just excellent. She arranged pain relief promptly, scans etc and kept all of us informed at all times. Consultant surgeon was completing lacking in any bed side manner, dismissive and gave no idea of why my son was in complete agony and didn't actually seem to care either. He and another Registrar we first saw in the Emergency Surgical Unit were the only blots on an otherwise perfect landscape! Ironically the consultant and registrar were completely wrong in their diagnosis -Professor at the Churchill realised what was causing the problems and operated again and my son has just gone from strength to strength since. Well done JR A&E !!
"Fantastic A&E care"
