I had a tibial tubercle transfer and resurfacing of the knee. The whole experience was made easier by the staff and care at Goring Hall. It was easy to make appointments and all departments were more or less on time and very efficient with results and communication. Sometimes, the clinic to see the consultant was often very busy with appointments being just 5 minutes so it did feel a bit rushed. The consultant took time to assess the problems, let me know the choices I had and discussed the operation several times before surgery. I met him 4 times prior to the operation and felt well informed and prepared for what lay ahead. His website was very useful and helped me to understand the operation and how to recover quickly. The most significant thing was continuity of care and having the opportunity to meet the surgeon beforehand. The hospital was very flexible with the dates so I could take a minimal time off work. Nursing, x-ray and surgery staff were relaxed and sociable as well as doing their job to a high standard. The food and accommodation was impressive. The nurses on Ilex ward were friendly, attentive and made me feel at home. The catering staff could not do enough for me. My physiotherapist has been excellent. She is very calm, patient and helped me onto a speedy recovery. I cannot thank the staff at Goring Hall enough the care and service I have received. I feel as if I have been given my life back. I was worried about being in more pain than before the operation and the procedure being unsuccessful, but the aftercare I have received has helped me through it. After just 4 and a half weeks my life is getting back to normal, although I have a while before I will regain full flexibility in my Knee. My experience of Goring Hall has been very positive and I will be returning and would refer the hospital to a friend.
