The communication was appalling during my after care at the Bobby Moore Unit Stepping Hill Hospital.
I went to see, I can only assume, was a junior consultant in the afternoon, after having a Botox injection in my bowel a few weeks before. What I expect from a junior consultant is that they tell me who they are, for them to tell me how the procedure went ie did they find anything untoward, like possibly cancer? I would have wanted to know that if a fissure is likely to come back how can it be prevented and what is the next step surgery wise if fissure does come back?
None of these things were explained to me. The person I spoke to didn’t even tell me their name, or position. However they did seem to look shocked to see someone as young as me having been treated for this complaint. For example they said something like you’re too young to be suffering with this complaint. They obviously didn’t read my medical notes as they would have read that I have had a previous heart attack and I am on a lot of medication to thin the blood, which hasn’t helped the fissure heal. Although they did tell me not to use I iPad on the loo for what relevance that is god only knows. Appalling communication and poor after care where I experienced a 'Couldn’t care less 'attitude.
I am very shocked and angry and I am still none the wiser as to whether I have been discharged or will have to come back for more treatment. I fear this is very bad treatment and it took me an hour to get to this appointment, only to be dismissed and treated like this. I was seen for about three minutes and to me this is disgusting!
