Had to take my partner to Scarborough A&E yesterday (13 July) and I cannot praise the unit highly enough. He had a tiny piece of metal in his eye which had been giving him a lot of pain on the Saturday night so I took him in on Sunday early afternoon, when it became obvious it wasn't going to go away on its own with eye baths. We were seen within half an hour of getting there, a smashing chap who as soon as he'd looked into the eye with magnifying equipment he identified the problem and set about solving it promptly and efficiently. I even got to see it myself, a tiny piece of metal. It came out in three parts as was fairly wedged in and hadn't been helped by my partner rubbing his eye the night before. You couldn't believe that something so small could cause so much pain.but we also got a quick tutorial on the eye and why you shouldn't delay treatment if foreign objects get into your eyes. We were issued with antibiotics, shown how to apply them and off we went. What a great service! It's definitely people who make the NHS great. Thank you to the staff at Scarborough.
"Excellent A&E care on 13 July"
