My Father is currently in Ward 8 at Good Hope Hospital. Today is Saturday 12th July.
I want to start by saying that some of the staff have been very kind and caring. Unfortunately not everything is what I would hope to find:
1) There have been a pair of discarded surgical gloves on the stairs since Wednesday 9th July. What has happened to the spread of infection and the need for cleanliness?
2) On Thursday we arrived to find my Dad moaning in pain having been left sitting on a bed pan. Nobody knew who had put it there or how long it had been there.
3) Today we arrive to find my father sitting in a pool of faeces. He was very distressed and said he had been asking and asking for a bed pan.
4) One of the staff on the ward was chewing gum and rolling it over the end of her tongue for all to see whilst walking through the ward.
5) The ward is a mess.
I find myself beginning to understand the "No Hope" nickname of the hospital
"Good Hope Hospital Ward 8"
