"My poem about Grasmere ward"

About: Knowsley Resource & Recovery Centre / Ward T2 (Grasmere Ward)

(as the patient),

I am a patient on Grasmere (Knowsley Resource and Recovery Centre) ward and I've written a poem about it:

Thank You Grasmere

When I came to hospital, I wanted to be better

I find it hard talking, so I’ve put it in a letter

I hadn’t heard of Grasmere but was told I had to go there

I was nervous to come to the ward but was welcomed in by Claire

There was many patients, some as young as me

And after I came in, I was given toast and tea

There are always new faces every single day

But the patients and the nurses always know the right things to say

When I feel anxious, I can find someone who’ll talk

Or take myself into the garden to have a little walk

I love how the nurses can always calm me down

Even if it isn’t my named nurse, there is always someone around

I don’t know how Mark and Jeff cope with all the girls

And everyone always comments on Kelly’s lovely curls

I like all the nurses, but my favourite is Elaine

But when I get anxious, I get really bad chest pain

I enjoy the activity room and sitting with Chels

Getting things off my chest with her makes me feel more myself

I don’t have a diagnosis, but they think its ADHD

Because one minute I’m upset, then I’m as hyper as can be

I find it really hard to get out of bed

Because most of the time I’ve got a sore head

I’m a better person, just after 11 days

I haven’t shouted at anyone, I’ve definitely changed my ways

I’ve learnt to deal with my emotions better than I did

As in the past all I’ve done is keep my feelings hid

Every patient is here with a different matter

They are all lovely, always up for a natter

When I came to hospital, I thought I’d lost my mind

But every single nurse was so welcoming and kind

To deal with emotions, now I’ll know what to do

And all I’ve got for Grasmere ward, is a big massive thank you!

Dear Karlasambor

Thank you very much for taking the time to compose your poem regarding your stay on Grasmere Ward and your complimentary comments regarding the staff on the ward and the care you have received.

The staff on Grasmere have displayed your original poem on the Ward for other patients and carers to see when they are admitted or come to visit.

We wish you well in your continued recovery.

Best wishes,
