My grandmother was admitted to the julian some weeks ago, since being at the Julian- she has had a number of falls (despite being on enhanced level observations which is 1:1). When questioned about the falls, we were given vague answers. My poor grandmother was attacked by a fellow resident, this we only found out because we probed for information as to why she was on enhanced observations- her husband was not informed by staff of this incident. Safeguarding procedures had not be adhered to, i.e. a safeguarding referral was not completed within the 3 day time frame. When i spoke to a nurse regarding nana's low blood pressure, i was given the rude reply of "well it's probably because she's been up all night and being disruptive." Not what you would expect from someone in the caring profession! Finally, my nana clearly had a painful eye infection- i requested that the nurse perhaps clean it with warm water as it was preventing her eye from opening, causing her to become anxious. The nurse advised he would do this, but then proceded to watch the television which i found shocking, he still hadn't done this one hour after asking. The ward mainly consists of agency staff, who of no fault of their own, have no idea about the clients needs and are unable to give you any info on how your loved one has been throughout the day, because quite often they don't even know who Joe Bloggs is as they themselves haven't had a decent handover regarding the clients needs and risks. Each time we left this establishment, as a family we have found signs which demonstrate poor care, all of which have been raised and little has been done. If a loved one of your family goes here, remain vigilant and ask questions!!!
