I was & still am shocked at our experience in a& e! It was the most dowdy scruffy shabby depressing place I've ever had to attend. I came out shocked & horrified at the state of our national health service. First of all we went in chancellor ward ( as advised ) only to find not a single person available. Any body could go in there not a single staff around. So dangerous. Finally found a shabby little entrance next door & went in that is LEEDS' a& e!!!! First sight greeted by person on drip & smoking outside entrance. How is this allowed? The seating in waiting area is so small was packed people on floors & this was a Sunday evening. The whole lay out is so badly thought out. Needs to be much bigger, brighter & more security to keep the place clean & tell people to take their feet of chairs etc. It was 4 hrs before we were seen, the medical staff were excellent & very thorough, but the management need to take a serious look at the cleanliness, layout & general appearance of the place. It's totally unsuitable . We left @ 12.15 am & it was very lonely & dark, better lighting & security is a must . Also take action with the publics hygiene & don't allow pizzas, smoking ( in the door way ) & other unsuitable actions. It was a joke. What good is hand sanitizer when people are not made to use it & then do unhygienic things as listed!
