I have severe chest problems and need medical care on a regular basis. Some time ago I was offerred the service of Community Matron Care. This has made such a difference to my general well being. She is always at the end of a phone for advice and if needed is at my home within the hour. My wife, who is my carer, feels supported and as we are both of retirement age this takes a great strain from us both.
On the occasions when she has had to recommend hospitalisation, she has contacted the consultant and the sister on the ward to ensure my care. I have nothing but praise for this service as her knowledge of my medical condition is second to one and invariably she is able to get test results etc when even the hospital have not received them.
I do hope that this sevice continues, as I, and I know others, would not know what to do without it. A big thanks to Mrs Beverley Walker.
