I was transferred to Ashurst Birthing Unit after giving birth to my baby on Broadlands, Princess Anne, to have support with breastfeeding. I was given so much support with breastfeeding my baby by the fantastic team of midwives and support workers. I really struggled with the breastfeeding for the first week at Ashurst but since then I have continued to do combination feeding of breast and bottle since then and I am still doing it now and will continue in the foreseeable future (my baby is 6 months old now). I loved the relaxed 'hotel' environment, with a wonderful view of the forest out of my window in which I saw the sunrise (!) and sunset. The food was really good too! I felt really spoilt! I will always be tremendously grateful to the staff for picking up on the fact that I was not coping emotionally and they got me the timely help I needed which prevented me having full blown psychosis (I was diagnosed with Puerperal Psychosis at Mother and Baby Unit having been transferred there from Ashurst to Princess Anne to Mother and Baby Unit on my fourth and last day at Ashurst). Thank you ever so much!
"A first-class service!"
