"Refered to hospital for hip and knee pain"

About: St Richard's Hospital

I was having pain in the hip and knee. I asked my GP to refer me to St Richard’s Hospital. On 17 marches, I saw a consultant at the hospital who arranged for an Ultrasound scan and MRI scan. On 7 April, I had Ultrasound scan. By now, my pain in the hip was severe. The Dr diagnosed inflammation in the hip and said normally, he would have given a steroid injection to reduce inflammation, but because my consultant had not asked for it, he could not do it. My pain got worse in the next few days. The pain in my hip from inflammation was so severe, I needed crutches to walk. On 13 April, I had MRI scan of the knee. After the MRI Scan, I went to A & E. A Dr checked me and suggested taking paracetamols. Meanwhile, he would request urgent review of my case with my consultant, who should authorize for a steroid injection. I should be seen in the next 5 days because of my clinical needs. 8 days later, I rang the hospital and requested an urgent arrangement for steroid injection. I was passed from one secretary to another. Finally, they gave me a date to see my consultant on 12 May. I logged a complaint to hospital that the cinical decision of the A & E Dr was a wait of 5 days and I should not have to wait another 19 days. I complaint that if I was a dog, I would have received better treatment on the day. On 12 May, I saw the consultant. She discussed about the hip, knee scan results, and authorized for the injection. Its 16 May, I have stayed home, avoiding putting weight on my legs. The inflammation has come down. Still waiting for a call from ST Richard’s hospital’s for the injection!
