On a routine mammogram an abnormality was detected. My mother was seen at KCH within 2 weeks where a very experienced, professional, empathetic consultant gave us some very bad news. A biopsy was undertaken straight away.
We left devastated but very well supported with information, contact numbers and appointments ready in place. The nurse offered us refreshments and showed us a different way out of the clinic to avoid a very busy waiting room which we were thankful for.
2 surgeries, chemotherapy and radiotherapy later, my mother is doing very well. The consultants at WHH & KCH, breast care nurses, teams in chemotherapy and radiotherapy have been excellent throughout - thank you! Keep up the hard work.
I believe we are often very quick to air negative experiences where as we do not celebrate the positives or take the time to tell them often enough. Very proud of my local hospital.
