"Emergency angioplasty"

About: Glasgow Royal Infirmary / Cardiac Surgery Golden Jubilee National Hospital / Cardiac Surgery Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as the patient),

On late Wednesday evening, I had to dial 999 as I had been suffering from chest pain from 4 o'clock that day.

I was transported by ambulance from the North of Glasgow to the Golden Jubilee Hospital, Clydebank, by caring and professional ambulance staff whom reassured they would get me to hospital quickly.

On arrival I was immediately taken to the cath lab where I was diagnosed with a blood clot in the right coronary artery. The consultant Mr Lindsay, quickly explained that he and his team would do an emergency angioplasty. With great speed and expertise they concluded and reassured me that it was a success.

Taken to a ward that night, where staff were attentive and professional. I was transferred to Glasgow Royal Infirmary to ward 44. There I was cared for with humour and professionalism until discharged four days later. I am now on my way to a hopefully full recovery.

I would just like to thank all the staff involved from transportation; operation, and the caring nursing staff, as I did not have time to thank everyone.

Dear Cabbie2,

Thank you very much for getting in touch with the Scottish Ambulance Service on Patient Opinion. I'm really glad to hear that the procedure went so well and that you're now on the road to recovery.

It really is great news that you were treated with the kind of professionalism, care and compassion that our crews demonstrate day after day for our patients across Scotland. I'd really like to pass on your comments to the staff involved so it would be much appreciated if you could email me over a few details, like your name, address and what date/time the crews were called. My email address is danielquee@nhs.net. Once I have those, I'll be able to contact the crew and let them know - I'm sure they'll be really thankful for your comments.

Once again, many thanks for your time and all the best on your road to recovery.

Kind Regards,

Daniel Quee
