Cancer is horrible but the hospital's cancer unity is pleasant and comfortable. More importantly the staff are universally supportive, kindly and efficient as well as being clinically superb. My wife's rare cancer is incurable but is being creatively treated by the haematology who have done everything possible to make her and my lives tolerable in what is a very frightening time. Staff spend time explaining and answering questions and there is a fine system of 24/7 contact in place. Follow-ups with local GPs and Macmillan nurses are instant and constructive. This has been a terrible time for us made tolerable by the professionalism as well as the humanity of the haematology team at the MRU who are outstanding.
