This is a daunting operation, and required two surgeons. Although the start of procedure was delayed due to the required surgical materials had been sent to Stoke not High Wycombe, the surgical team kept me fully informed and the missing materials were located and the procedure went ahead - especially as the delay impacted the Anaesthetic team and their schedule. But once again this was resolved making sure the operation was not cancelled. For this I am very grateful as had put in place care for my child and myself following discharge. Following the procedure I went to the surgical ward (single sex and much appreciated as no snoring during the night:-). Nursing staff from the Ward Manager to all the HCAs and the wonderful lady who brought tea and cheer all day were excellent. I was supported towards full mobility as soon as I felt able, but not pushed into it. When required staff came quickly when the call button was used, one kind nurse, even found time to help me wash and freshen up. The care was excellent and during this vulnerable time I felt I couldn't had had any better care.
