"I was impressed by the seamless ..."

About: Hereford County Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I was impressed by the seamless way my emergency referral from a ShropDoc GP was handled by the Hospital's admission system through the A. & E.department (..and this on the Saturday night before Christmas!)

I was reassured about my condition and quickly seen by members of both the outgoing and incoming surgical house shifts before my operation.

My post-op care was extremely good and I was particularly impressed by the way everyone on the ward got on with the task of caring for the patients and maintaining a clean, tidy ward environment.

At 'bed-care' level, the standards set by the two Staff Nurses I saw, seem to be at the core of the successful, high standards of my ward's regime. Their good nursing skills, care, dedication, energy and high professional standards set the tone for the other staff to emulate. There was a happy, positive, 'can-do' approach to every patient's needs, which is so reassuring when you're a bed-bound patient.

What could be improved

Nothing - my surgical treatment was 1st. class and during my stay in the ward I never felt in need of any extra care, attention or pain-relief.

Anything else?

Bravo to Hereford County Hospital..!!! Compared to my experience of an NHS county hospital in the east of England just a few years ago, there was absolutely no comparison with what I feared might be the normal standards one has to tolerate these days. Far from it ! I cannot praise the Hereford Hospital systems, surgical treatment and care regime enough.
