I received exceptional care and attention at the ACAD unit. Without exception, the staff were friendly and helpful, respectful and optimistic. They clearly enjoy their work and they are all determined to make the unit operate efficiently. I had both my eyes operated on which meant I made several visits to the unit over a period of weeks. Every one in the teams - from the receptionist to the consultants - had a clear idea of what they were doing. If that sounds obvious, it isn't ....it's rare to find a complex procedure which requires several stages of highly sophisticated patient care that operates so well. From the beginning, I felt I was valued as an individual and, although the operations were on a day case basis, it was clear that my welfare was paramount and my opinions were important. This is a really outstanding unit. It's exceptionally well managed, very confident in its ability to handle a busy workload and just a very reassuring and friendly place to go to have this treatment. The outcome of my surgery was remarkable. A complete revelation in terms of my sight after the minimum of fuss and virtually no pain. Thank you very much indeed, ACAD. Christopher Holker
