"Recent visit for Hysterosalpingogram at Tamside"

About: Tameside General Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

I came to Tameside today to have a Hysterosalpingogram as I have had 2 recurrent miscarriages and this was a part of the investigation. I was seen in the ground floor xray department this morning (my apt was at 10: 45 and I wasn't long after that).

I was worried about the procedure and when I arrived after it had all been explained to me I felt even more anxious (not because of the staff I add). I was treated by Wendy Andrews and there were 2 other staff involved also.

I just wanted to say how great they were. Wendy explained everything to me and the other staff were very comforting throughout the procedure and one even held my hand. It was obvious to me that they care very much about their patients and this was very evident during my visit today.

They talked me through the whole thing and made me feel better because I knew exactly what was going on during each step. Afterwards I was given a cup of tea and some biscuits, I did feel a little off colour afterwards and I could tell they were concerned about me and they made sure I didn't get up or go until I was OK.

Tameside General Hospital receives much bad press and I wanted to feed this back and I hope that this also is fed back to the actual staff themselves as they really were lovely.

Thank you for your positive comments. We are very proud of the advanced practice radiographer led services we have in place and this is one of them. We strive to give a gold standard service and these lovely comments are letting us know that we can succeed. Wendy is relatively recently trained in this technique and I’m sure will be grateful for this feedback

Thank you again for your kind comments

Kind regards

John Goodenough
