"Poor communication from the anaesthetist at Kings Mill"

About: King's Mill Hospital

(as the patient),

i was booked into the day case unit for a small surgical proceedure.i was due to be taken down to theatre at about 9am.

i saw the anesthetist at about 8am and was told what anasthetic i was having and the implications. i fully understood this and gave my consent.

So why then was i informed at about 11am my op was cancelled because there was no anesthetist there that had the experience to do the anasthetic i was to be given? why did the anesthetist inform me at 11am when i had waited all morning and he proberly knew at 8am that i wasn't going to have the op? why is there only one specalist that can actually perform this anasthetic proceedure for the whole of the hospital (or so i was told)? now i am back on the waiting list and meanwhile my condition gets worse.

let me make it clear i do not blame the nursing staff, they were lovely.
