"A&E at Victoria Hospital Kirkcaldy"

About: NHS 24 Scottish Ambulance Service Victoria Hospital / Accident & Emergency

(as a relative),

After mum suddenly blacked out at home I called NHS24 who talked through the situation and advised a GP call-out was best. Mum's own GP was round within 30 minutes. All seemed well and we were to progress with a couple of tests as an out-patient.

But 2 hours after the first blackout, it happened again so I called an ambulance. Response within 5 minutes was incredible and after an ECG in the vehicle mum was taken to A&E.

Initial tests were conducted immediately followed by a consultation with the doctor and a further chest X-Ray. Mum was kept in overnight for further tests and observation and though it did take a few hours to get a bed, treatment was great.

Mum was discharged the following day with a few tests still to be done as an out-patient as originally thought by our GP.

Every aspect of our experience was as good as you could possibly expect from NHS24 to the GP, the Scottish Ambulance Service, A&E and Admissions Unit 1.

We are so fortunate to have this wonderful service here when we need to call on them.
