I was admitted for urgent surgery and was very impressed with all my care and treatment. I was readmitted with an infection in my operation wound and again pleased with the care except when the registrar reopened the wound without any pain relief and was mopping up with paper towels. However the follow up from the nurses could not have been more gentle and reassuring. My only complaint is the discharge procedure. Being discharged on both occasions entailed hours of waiting, for medication from the pharmacy - which appeared to have been sitting around waiting for me to chase them up. Also the porter and wheel chair did not materialise and we then discovered we could organise this ourselves. As this was my first experience of hospital I was very reluctant to keep chasing and asking the very busy nursing staff. I am sure this could be improved especially as I was blocking a bed in a very stretched ward. I suspect that many of your reviews will be skewed by this final experience especially as it is the last one before filling in the review! I really appreciate all the NHS do. I have always been a big fan and now I know just how lucky we are in this country.
