On the early hours of Monday morning I was sent to A&E by OOH GP. It was a hard time and I was very upset.
Upon arrival the nurse on triage helped settle me and showed empathy advising that I did the right thing coming down despite it being hard due to the reason for needing support.
It was a long wait and whilst this made it harder, it was clear that the staff were under a lot of pressure.
At 10.30am I got called into see Dr Rice. She was amazing, she gave me the space to be honest about what was going on and reassured me throughout. She took things seriously and liaised with my community team. She comforted me throughout when I was overwhelmed and upset and talked me through everything step by step to ease my anxiety.
Whilst things still aren’t great, I left ED feeling very lucky to have been treated by a very kind and understanding Dr. She treated me with respect and empathy and made me feel less of a burden.
Thank you Dr Rice for making such a difference during a really difficult time.
