"Amazing support from health visitor"

About: Health visiting / Angus Health Visiting

(as a parent/guardian),

Our son arrived at 33 weeks suffering life threatening effects of haemolytic disease of the newborn due to my blood antibody incompatibility. He was seriously ill and required a double exchange blood transfusion within 12 hours of life, extensive blue lights and successive platelet and blood transfusions. He came home after nearly a month in NICU which was faster than we had expected and Lauren was in contact and then started visiting when we were settled.

Lauren has been kind, gentle, supporting and understanding from the start. She’s been a friend to our family, and we look forward to her visits every week (especially our daughter who has a special adoration of her!). I have felt so supported by her and know she’s always there even via text to speak to. She has been so caring to our son and always genuinely wants to know how his appointments went. With so much medicalisation and constantly seeing different doctors/nurses through clinics etc it has been invaluable to have a steady consistent friend who can offer advice and encouragement
