"Dad's care and treatment"

About: University Hospital Monklands / Respiratory Medicine (Ward 17)

(as a relative),

My dad was recently admitted to ward 17 at Monklands hospital. Sadly he passed away. However the treatment he received was great throughout but particularly exceptional in his last 2 days. The biggest majority of staff were great within the ward but I would like to say a particular thank you to Kim, as she ensured the care my dad received in his last 2 days was exceptional. As a family we were also looked after and supported in a particularly difficult time. This is my first experience of University Hospital Monklands and can honestly say the staff and care received is better than any treatment that family members have received in any of the wards in other hospitals we have visited.

Dear Bernard1

Thank you for taking the time to share your dad’s story with us during what must be an incredibly difficult time for you and your family. On behalf of the team at University Hospital Monklands, please accept our sincere condolences on your loss.

I am truly grateful to hear that your dad received great care throughout his admission to Ward 17, and that his final days were supported with exceptional compassion and professionalism. It means a great deal to the team to know that their efforts brought comfort to both your dad and your family at such a sensitive time.

I will ensure Kim and the wider ward team receive your kind words. Staff work hard to provide the best possible care, and feedback like yours is deeply appreciated and helps remind them of the positive difference they make.

Thank you again for sharing your experience, especially as this was your first contact with University Hospital Monklands. Your reflections will be shared with the team and will serve as a meaningful acknowledgment of their dedication.

Please know our thoughts remain with you and your family.

Warm regards,
Alan Sommerville
